That electricity eventually caught the attention of Arizona PBS, which featured the band on Playlist 48, a series highlighting the state’s most promising independent artists.

The band’s momentum soon began reaching beyond their local scene. Rather than taking the traditional route of slowly releasing disconnected singles, My Upside Down focused on creating conceptual releases that reflected their larger artistic vision. Their breakout release, Piece by Piece, independently surpassed 850,000 streams within its first year, while the band’s first official tour, A Fistful of Tragedies, carried them across Arizona and California. Appearances at Emo Nite at Avalon Hollywood, Ink’d Chronicles in Pomona, and Red Brontosaurus Records in San Diego, marked another step forward for a band still finding new ground.

Something is building around My Upside Down, but it was never built overnight. It has grown through packed rooms, intense live performances, loyal hometown support, and a city that embraced the band long before much of the country knew their name. The rest of the world is only beginning to notice what Phoenix already knew, making My Upside Down — a band worth featuring — and always worth watching.
